Description: Jesus' name means 'God's appointed saviour'. He is the mediator who brings human beings back to God by showing them the love of God. By itself, the name Jesus belongs to his recorded mortal life, as do the words 'Son of Man', which is found 82 times in the Gospels but not in the Acts and Epistles, because they come after his mortal weakness has been overcome. The titles 'Lord' and 'Christ' are found mainly in the Acts and Epistles, after his resurrection, having accomplished the work of salvation. Knowing Jesus' wonderful character is what transforms us.
