These wonderful visions, shown to the prophet Zechariah, begin and end in the Kingdom of God here on earth. The first vision is the earth at rest after the judgments of God have been poured out on the enemies of God and of Israel subsequent to Christ’s return. The following visions take us through God’s judgments on Israel for their unbelief and wickedness. These judgments are interrupted in the middle with the remarkable vision of a lampstand with seven lamps fed from two Olive Trees which reveal something of the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and of his immortalised saints in the future age. Th final vision of four chariots rushing out from between two mountains of brass takes us from Armageddon to, in the following verses, the crowning of Jesus Christ as Melchizedek king priest of all the earth. All in all these visions give us exciting and inspiring pictures of what has been and, by way of contrast, what will be.
