Truth Or Myth - Facts or Fables - The Bible under the spotlight. 13 Videos

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="none"]Can we trust the Bible? It contains descriptions of miraculous events, and sceptical scholars have made claims that the Gospels, in particular, are unreliable. The evidence, however, supports the reliability of the Bible. Archaeology supports the Bible accounts, the accounts fit together in non-obvious but very detailed ways and ancient sources outside the Bible agree with the Bible accounts. The videos in this series show some of the evidence which shows that the Bible is a reliable account of the events it describes, and that the teaching in it comes from the prophets and apostles who wrote it, and from Jesus Christ who is reported in the Gospels. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="none"]The Bible was written over a long period of time. Parts of it were written well before 1000BC while other parts were written in the first century AD. However, there are some points in common between all the parts of the Bible. The Bible contains books of history which can be shown to be very accurate. These books may have been completed well after the events they describe, but they are reliable. There are also books of prophets in the Old Testament and letters from Apostles in the New Testament. These were written by the people whose names they bear. The point is that the writers of the Bible knew what they were writing about. The Dating of the Gospels: When were they actually written?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A @Christadelphians Video: How much we can trust the Gospels depends on when they were written. If the Gospels were written in the lifetime of the Apostles, the Apostles would act as guarantors of their accuracy. If they were written after the time of the Apostles, then the Apostles could not act to ensure their reliability and the names we have attached to the Gospels (and to some of the letters) would be false. This video shows that the Gospels were written within the lifetime of the Apostles, and that they can therefore be considered to be reliable. The video shows that the Gospel of Mark was written first, between 50 and 55AD, with Luke written next, between 57 and 61AD (more likely in 60 or 61AD). Acts is written in early 62AD. The Gospel of John was written in 65 or 66AD. Matthew is the most difficult Gospel to date, but was certainly written before 70AD. It was probably written after Luke's Gospel, which would place it in the 60s AD, and probably before the start of the Jewish War in 66AD.
