On Tuesday this week, Isla Bryson, a transgender woman who raped two women was convicted and awaits sentencing next month. Isla Bryson first appeared in a scottish court in 2019 whilst known as Adam Graham. However, in the following year, Bryson told Jurors that he had made the decision to begin transition from a man to a woman
Since 2014, the Scottish Prison Service’s policy has been that prisoners should be accommodated on the basis of self-declared identity, subject to a risk assessment. The accommodation must best suit “the person’s needs and should reflect the gender in which they are currently living.” Up until the point of conviction, Isla Bryson was held on remand at a women’s prison, segregated from the other inmates. The community safety spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives, Russel Finlay commented that “It would be wrong to put a male-bodied rapist in a women's prison.” On Thursday this week, Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish First Minister confirmed that Bryson would in fact be removed from the Woman’s prison and would not serve the sentence there. In fact, Bryson is expected to be moved to a male wing of a prison this week.

The Gender Reform Bill

Over the past weeks, this has been a subject of heated debate, with concerns being raised about the safety of other women in the prison being incarcerated with a male rapist. This tension was further exacerbated as the Scottish Parliament passed legislation last month aimed at making it easier for people to change their legally-recognised sex. This gender recognition Reform bill has been blocked by the UK Government over its potential impact on equalities laws that apply across Scotland, England and Wales. The Scottish conservative leader, Douglas Ross said his party had "warned for months" during the debate over the gender reforms that "violent criminals just like the sex offender, the absolute beast we are discussing today, would try to exploit loopholes in the law and attack and traumatise women.” He added: "It should not have taken public disgust and a slew of negative headlines about a double rapist being sent to a women's prison for Nicola Sturgeon to realise this was completely unacceptable and wrong. "She and her justice secretary have the power to impose a blanket ban on all rapists being sent to women's prisons, so why is she refusing to exercise it? "It suggests Nicola Sturgeon's screeching U-turn in the Bryson case was down to fears over the political risk to herself rather than the safety risk to women prisoners." Isla Bryson’s case is a further example that the extreme gender ideology currently being pushed across the western world today is unsustainable in real life. It is far easier to become a mouth piece for this ideology than it is to enforce it when it comes to things like prison policies, or sporting competition rules, since it is enforcing a pseudo-reality that doesn’t fit with everyday life.

Bible Teaching about Gender

Whilst this is a negative subject, it can also be seen as a sign of the times, showing that we are living in the last days of the Kingdom of men. And whilst clearly, the apostles and prophets didn’t live in times when gender was as malleable as people claim today, nevertheless, the Bible does provide guidance on these issues. The book of Genesis tells us that “in the beginning, God created…”, and that everything he had made was “very good” (Gen 1:1,31). These statements have far reaching consequences. This very obvious bible teaching shows that God is sovereign, not man. God is the designer and knows what he intended for mankind and his creation, according to his wisdom. Men and woman were made to be different from the rest of the animal creation because they were made in the “image and likeness of God”. They can reflect moral values in the way that the rest of creation cannot. God chose to make us “male and female”. Men and women are different, but complementary, combining to achieve the aim God had in view. Similarly, Jesus affirms the teaching of Genesis in Matthew 19:4-6: "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” This teaching sets out several things:
  1. We are created beings, made by God.
  2. Male and female is part of God’s creative design
  3. The capacity to be “one flesh” (a biological function) is intrinsic to being male or female
  4. Mankind must not seek to alter God’s arrangement.
This shows that despite medical advances, it is not possible to change a person’s gender. As far as the bible is concerned, a trans-woman is not a woman. Isla Bryson is a male rapist, not a woman. We read in the gospels that the coming of the son of man could be likened to the days of Noah. Luke 17:26-27 “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” While this verse may originally apply to the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, the principle remains the same for the last days of gentile times. In the book of Genesis, we read more about what happened in the days of Noah: Genesis 6:12 “And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt. For all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth” There is no doubt that transgender ideology, as it is pushed throughout schools, hospitals, politics, prisons and more, is a corruption of God’s way upon upon the earth. This is a sign of the times that we live in. We live in days just like Noah’s times. We must not be conformed to the thinking of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds, through reading God’s word. Just as the flood came, so we wait for the coming of the son of man. We pray for the time when the new heavens and the new earth will bring an end to the humanistic rule of mankind. The Dating of the Gospels: When were they actually written?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A @Christadelphians Video: How much we can trust the Gospels depends on when they were written. If the Gospels were written in the lifetime of the Apostles, the Apostles would act as guarantors of their accuracy. If they were written after the time of the Apostles, then the Apostles could not act to ensure their reliability and the names we have attached to the Gospels (and to some of the letters) would be false. This video shows that the Gospels were written within the lifetime of the Apostles, and that they can therefore be considered to be reliable. The video shows that the Gospel of Mark was written first, between 50 and 55AD, with Luke written next, between 57 and 61AD (more likely in 60 or 61AD). Acts is written in early 62AD. The Gospel of John was written in 65 or 66AD. Matthew is the most difficult Gospel to date, but was certainly written before 70AD. It was probably written after Luke's Gospel, which would place it in the 60s AD, and probably before the start of the Jewish War in 66AD. European Union-Palestinian Collaboration
To hide evidence of Bible truth

January 15, 2023 - Audio, 10.50 MIN (Links at bottom of page to download free viewers.)
The ongoing effort to erase evidence of historical Jewish connection to the land of Israel and delegitimize Jewish growth in the land continues apace.  Secretly and overtly fueled by hatred from those in and supporting the Palestinian Authority, the attempts out of Europe itself to undermine the Jewish state and rewrite her history are becoming ever more apparent. During Hanukkah, on December 23 a European Union secret document was leaked in which a plan is detailed to help the Palestinians take over Area C of Judea and Samaria, the parts of the so-called West Bank that are actually under full Israeli control currently.  The document is headed “European Union Joint Development Plan for Area C.” The document details many ways in which the EU intends to and can actively be seen to be implementing methods to extend Arab presence and control into area “C” of Judea and Samaria. Included in this is the intention to “keep tabs on” Israeli Archaeological digs.
"The Jewish News Syndicate reported the reaction of Naomi Kahn, the director of an Israeli NGO that deals with land issues: “one element of the report that did surprise her was its call to keep tabs on Israeli archaeology in Area C. The E.U. document calls for monitoring archaeological research because it says Israel politicizes archaeology to thwart Palestinian expansion. "Kahn said what’s actually happening is that the P.A. has destroyed “countless archaeological sites” in Judea and Samaria with the goal of erasing Jewish ties to the land. They use several methods, either destroying them, plowing them under, or redefining them as “Palestinian,” she said.”
Judea and Samaria are the very heartland of Biblical history, including areas in even Jerusalem herself most notably the Old City and the City of David, these areas are full of the rich history of the Jews that lived there for thousands of years.  Though these years were interrupted by destructions and judgements a remnant always remained, and the evidence of their lives is guarded by the soil. But this is now being weaponized.  As the brilliant power of the evidence comes out of the ground, the strong desire is to stop it at any cost is revealed as well. Even back on February 2, 2018, the JewishNews in the UK reported the following:
“...a report, leaked to The Guardian...accuses Israeli authorities of using excavation and findings “as political tools to modify the historical narrative and to support, legitimize and expand settlements”.  Among the examples listed was that of the City of David...”
However, Israeli authorities are not weaponizing archaeology.  Archaeological finds are supporting the history of the Bible and its people, and for those who deny it, that is not a convenient find. Since about 1967, the Palestinians have been trying to pretend that there were no Jewish temples on the Temple Mount, despite its name and many historical Muslim documents which also claim that the Jewish temples stood on the Temple Mount.  Historically, this was not a fact disputed by Muslims. Nadav Shragai wrote a very well-documented piece for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs in which, among many others, he quotes Persian historian Abu Jafar Muhammad bin Jarir al-Tabari (838-923):
“one of his ancient manuscripts, which carries a seal of al-Azhar – the world’s most important educational institution for Sunni Islam” says that “Beit al-Maqdis was built by Solomon, son of David, and was made of gold, pearls, rubies, and of the precious stone peridot, paved with silver and gold, and its columns were of gold.”
(The reference to “Beit al-Maqdis” is of Hebrew origin meaning The Holy House”, Hebrew Bait HaMikdash and is a reference to the Jewish Temples.) So, what are some of the recent finds that have the world so concerned that their narrative will be exposed as false? New discoveries are constantly being made.  Those who wish to deny are rightly afraid.  Some of these are:  The stone marked as the house or place of trumpeting, many seals of officials, which are the little bits of clay used to tamperproof and sign documents.  One of these is a seal impression or bula of Hezekiah king of Judah, the bullae of three officials that locked up Jeremiah for prophesying of the destruction that would come because of their refusal to obey God.  They were found near each other along with ashes and arrowheads from the destruction.  A seal impression was recently found that appears to have sealed a fabric sack during the first temple period.  It bears the name of a person from the family of Immer, but the first name is partly cut off.  What’s left would translate to (Belonging to) […]lyahu (son of) Immer”.  Another son of Immer is mentioned in Jeremiah, Pashhur son of Immer is mentioned in the Bible as “Chief officer in the house of God” (Jer. 20:1).  A bell from the High Preists garments was found in the drainage channel under the recently excavated road that leads up to the temple mount from the pool of siloam.  That road its self is an amazing find.  Many ritual baths or Miqvaot have been found in the area as well which will be because cleansing was necessary before ascending to the temple.  Lavish paving has been found from the temple mount dating back to the Herodian era.  It was found as part of the Temple Mount sifting project. I would like to detail today a couple of other finds. Around 1500 Ivory inlay pieces were recently found believed to be from a lavish royal room from the time of Hezekiah.  An interesting thing about them is that out of all of the inlays found, none depict figurines or false Gods as is usually the case in ones found elsewhere, including those from the Northern kingdom, which we know had an almost unbroken idolatry problem.  King Hezekiah was a righteous king that abolished idolatry from Judah. Solomonic Gates.  A gate has been found in Jerusalem, and as Archaeologist Dr. Leen Ritmeyer pointed out, it is strikingly similar to those found in other cities from the time of Solomon.
“15 And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.” (1Kings 9:15, AV)
This find provides evidence of the expanse of Solomon’s kingdom, which is important as there are those who try to diminish him to a mere tribal ruler, something insignificant. Back in Jerusalem, the actual Palace of David has been unearthed.  The first clue that was found was a Phonciean capital (decorative pillar top) that was at the bottom of the previously excavated stepped stone structure believed to be what the Bible describes as “milo”.  What was Phoenician architecture doing in Jerusalem?  Second Samuel 5 fills us in:
“11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.” (2Samuel 5:11, AV)
So sure was the late archaeologist Eliat Mazar, before beginning the excavations that they must be right below the palace that she published her conclusion beforehand. She was not disappointed.  Above the stepped stone structure a royal building was found with all of the expected trappings of a royal residence. All of these finds, and the many more that there are, show that the record that we have in the Bible is historical.  The people were real, the places were as described and evidence of the events that happened there are being extracted from the dust of the Holy Land. We have also seen that there is a contest for the land today and a serious effort to suppress the truth about it.  This battle is itself a fulfillment of prophecy.  The Bible prophecies that the enemy would appoint his land to their own possession.  He tells us that Jerusalem would be controversial with phrases such as “the controversy of Zion”, Jerusalem to be “a burdensome stone”, “aha even the ancient high places are ours...” and “when I bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem I will also gather all nations...”  The six-day war of 1967, which returned these lands to Jewish control were indeed took the conflict to a global level and opened up situations that are fulfilling so many of these prophecies. Unfortunately, another great battle is predicted.  It is known by the Jews as the “battle of Gog and Magog”, it is the “year of recomposes for the controversy of Zion.  The exciting part is that out of it comes the destruction of those who lift themselves up against God and his people.  Those that are left, we are told, will come up from year to year to worship God at his Temple in Jerusalem. Daily Readings & Thought for January 21st. “FILL UP, THEN THE …”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As his ministry was reaching its climax, our Lord most bluntly confronted the religious leaders in Jerusalem.  In today’s reading [Matt.23] he calls them “hypocrites”  “blind guides” and “children of hell”.  He says they concentrate on outward appearances “but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence” [23 v.25]  His words stirred up their hatred of him, which had increased when they saw the adulation he received as he entered Jerusalem on the donkey. As a result they are now even more determined to destroy him.  What is most interesting is that seven times in this chapter Jesus says “Woe to you” [v.13,15,16,23,25,27,29] The hidden sevens in the Bible are interesting, as we have noted in Revelation.  It seems especially significant when he says, “Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.  You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape … all these things shall come on this generation.” [v.32,33,36]   The same Gk word is used in Ch. 13 v.47-50 when Jesus told the parable of the net being “thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind.  When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away the bad.  So it will be at the close of the age …” – the age in which we live. Jesus is using a way of speaking that God used through the prophet Joel; speaking then of gathering in a grape harvest, to indicate the overflow of his anger on the nations “ … the harvest is ripe.  Go in, tread for the winepress is full.  The vats overflow, for their evil is great … for the day of the LORD is near … and the heavens and the earth quake … so you shall know that I am the LORD your God.” [Joel 3 v.13,14,16.17]  The main application of Joel’s prophecy is to our world today!  How close is our world to being “full”?  The amount of godlessness is starting to overflow! A fearful repetition of God’s punishment on the ‘Jewish world’ that rejected Jesus is nearly upon us – but this time it is a godless world that has turned away from any belief in God and his word.!  Remember the final message of Jesus we read last month,, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth … they (the angels) were told not to harm  (true believers)… only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.” [Rev.8 v.13; 9 v.4] How can those who do not read the Bible and fear God have any hope of having the seal of God on them Let us make sure we have that seal. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The world today puts a great lot of effort and money into marketing goods and services.  The internet, radio, TV, newspapers magazines and sign boards are full of promotions of one kind of thing or another.  A fundamental aim of the majority of this promotion is to make us envious of what other people have or experience – the aim is to make us want it ourselves!  Now David’s Psalm (No. 37) today is very special, it is full of spiritual advice to those who aim to live in a godly way in contrast to the attitudes in our world of 2021.  David says, “I have been young and now I am old” [v.25] so these are words of reflection at the latter end of his life.  He starts by saying [v.1] “be not envious of wrongdoers” because they, like the grass, have no future.  In another Psalm we read, “I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked” [73 v.3] So David had to learn the right attitudes in his life’s experiences, like we do.        But it is not just a matter of avoiding doing wrong, or not being envious of the successful: note what David also says in today’s Psalm, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way” [v.7]  It is a real challenge to “be still” in the sense that is meant here  – in a world that is so active in experiencing and doing everything possible – it is a hyperactive society today. How much are you being swept along by it? !  Is it affecting you sub-consciously? The awareness the Lord gives David, leads him to see a time when “the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace” [v.11]  Our Lord Jesus repeats this and applies it to inheriting the entire earth! [Matt. 5 v.5]  We need this awareness, if we are to effectively counteract temptations to take part in as much of this world’s spirit of living  – without actually engaging in wrongdoing.   David says, “the Lord laughs (mocks) at the wicked for he sees that his day is coming” [v.13].  Now note v.30 & 31, “The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.”  An essential foundation for that kind of thinking and living is achieved today by those who regularly read the word of God, and really think about what they read: May that include all who are reading this. Whiz Kidz: The promises to David...Simple Version for Children (Pete Owen)

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="none"]Nearly 1,000 years after Abraham, when his descendants, the nation of Israel, had become a kingdom in the land of promise, God made further momentous promises to David the king: “I will set up thy seed after thee . . . and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be My son” (2 Sam. 7:12-14). These promises too were affirmed by God by covenant and oath (Ps. 89:3,4), and were reiterated by the angel Gabriel at the annunciation of Jesus’s birth (Lk. 1:32,33) [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ9_MoRObnY[/embedyt][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="none"]CHRISTADELPHIANVIDEO.ORG, (@christdelphians) a worldwide collaboration by Christadelphians to help promote the understanding of God's Word to those who are seeking the Truth about the Human condition and God's plan and Purpose with the Earth and Mankind upon it. Daily Readings & Thought for January 18th. " ... AND FOLLOWED HIM"

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Why did people follow Jesus? We know his disciples did, because he called them to do so, but others?  We had an example in today’s chapter 20 in Matthew, “there were two blind men sitting by the roadside” [v.30] who cried out when they were told Jesus was passing by, “Lord, have mercy on us, ‘Son of David’”  To call him ‘Son of David’ meant they acknowledged him as the Messiah. “Jesus called them and said, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’  With what sense of potential wonder would they have replied, “Let our eyes be opened.”[v.33]   Jesus reacted – “in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight.”  And what did they do then?  They “followed him” [v.34]  This was in contrast to others; nine of the 10 lepers he healed did not even return to express their gratitude! (Luke 17 v.15-18) and when the people came to see the madman who Jesus healed “clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid … and they began to beg Jesus to depart from their region.” [Mark 5 v.15,16]  The loss of the pigs dominated their thinking. What dominates our thinking? Our world is full of spiritually blind people and others with the leprosy of sinful godless ways; just a few are like the Ephesians, who, Paul said, have had “the eyes of your hearts enlightened that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance” [1 v.18]  But few have such “eyes” – Peter’s experience was just like our world; in his last letter he wrote of those who “have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin.  They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed” [2 Pet. 2 v.14] Two days ago in Matt. 19 we read the answer of Jesus to the “man who came up to him, saying ‘Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”  [v.17]  But it is not achieved by a ‘one off’ good deed is it!  This man was wealthy, and he needed to get rid of that in which he trusted, so Jesus told him, “… go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me” [21] That was not the answer he was looking for “he went away sorrowful”.  What answer are we looking for?  Hopefully we have found that answer and are among those who “followed him” making our lives count in some meaningful ways, according to our abilities, in the way we follow him.    A last thought – returning to our quote from Peter – we noted his words, “whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.” [v.19]  Let us be enslaved to Christ, it is not possible to be only half committed. The Greatest of these is Love -1 Cor 13

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="none"]A @Christadelphians Video: Description: God is love and through his Word we can understand real love. In the chapter spoken, love is explained. Throughout the Scripture the characteristics that combine to make up true love expands on the subject to give us a deeper understanding. We can then work on demonstrating these characteristics more in our lives.   [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w34lUi1mqXQ[/embedyt][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="none"]CHRISTADELPHIANVIDEO.ORG, (@christdelphians) a worldwide collaboration by Christadelphians to help promote the understanding of God's Word to those who are seeking the Truth about the Human condition and God's plan and Purpose with the Earth and Mankind upon it. Daily Readings & Thought for January 17th.  “DO YOU BEGRUDGE MY …”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The last 2 verses of today’s chapter (19) in Matthew can be puzzling if we do not realize the chapter break is wrongly placed and the context includes the next chapter.    The end of chapter 19 records Jesus as saying, “everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.  But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”  The lesson Jesus is teaching becomes clear in his next words at the start of ch. 20. “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master … who went out early … to hire labourers for his vineyard … for a denarius a day”   There follows the details of going out again at “the third hour … the sixth hour … the ninth hour … the eleventh hour.”  In the evening payment is made “beginning at the first” [v.4] and they all receive the same payment (v.10) regardless of how long they have worked.  Those who had “borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat” [v.12] complain.  Verses 15 & 16 put the matter into focus from the divine point of view, “Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me?  Or do you begrudge my generosity?  So the last will be first, and the first last.”  The disciples are going to labour in the “scorching heat” of the day, this is a lesson for them. But beware of looking at the situation from the opposite perspective!  Could we be tempted to think to ourselves, ‘As long as we get to the service on most Sundays, that is all I really have to do’?    Look back at the first passage quoted above, Jesus says, “everyone who has left … for my name’s sake will receive …”  It evidently means, everyone who has given first consideration to me and the needs of my vineyard as they live their lives – and done things, according to their ability and opportunity (and this includes making opportunities) “will receive….”  Let’s put this alongside another saying of Jesus in Luke ch. 12.   First note v. 37 “Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes”  and then “everyone to whom much was given, of him (or her) much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.” [v.48]  Much food for thought for us today – how much has been given to me – to you?.
